About Cleeve Chorale

We are a friendly choral society of about 50 members. We meet weekly in term time and usually rehearse for three concerts a year. We are based in the Bishops Cleeve/Woodmancote area to the north of Cheltenham, England but our members come from a wider area.

We usually perform in three concerts each year. Most of our concerts are held in Bishops Cleeve but we have also performed in other venues, including overseas.  Overseas tours have taken the choir to Hungary, Tuscany and th Salzburg area of Austria. Why not come and hear us at our next performance?

Cleeve Chorale seeks an experienced accompanist for September 2019.

Cleeve Chorale is a sociable and welcoming, non-auditioned choral society based in Bishop’s Cleeve, north of Cheltenham.  Its membership (currently 55 singers) perform 3 major concerts each year alongside a programme of workshops and smaller events.  Most concerts take place in St Michael’s Church in the village, and the choir has strong links with local primary schools, with whom it collaborates for Christmas and summer events.  Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings at Bishop’s Cleeve Primary Academy.

Recent repertoire has included Handel’s Acis and Galatea, Faure’s Requiem and choral selections from West Side Story, Oliver! and My Fair Lady.  This summer the choir will perform Shearing’s Songs and Sonnets.

The choir seeks to appoint a skilled pianist with outstanding sight-reading and score reading skills to accompany weekly rehearsals.   Additionally, the successful applicant would be expected to accompany the choir in performances where repertoire dictates.  Remuneration will be £50 per rehearsal, with additional fees for performances when applicable.

To apply for this position, please send a letter of application and curriculum vitae, along with details of two referees to info@cleevechorale.co.uk.  The closing date for applications is Friday 10th May 2019.  Shortlisting will take place on Sunday 12th May with initial auditions in the week commencing 20th May.
